Prison Ministry
“The spirit of the Lord God is upon me: because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the broken hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives; and the opening of the prison to them that are bound.” Isaiah 61:1
The Prison Ministry reaches out to those who are incarcerated with the love of Christ to provide spiritual uplifting within the local, state, and federal judicial system by corresponding with inmates through cards
and letters. In writing letters to incarcerated family members, the correct spelling of the inmate’s name, address, and inmate number are needed. The ministry makes visitation to the Schaffner Youth Detention Center on a regular basis to reach out to the young people who are in bonds at that facility. To initiate visitation or spiritual guidance to loved ones who are in correctional facilities in the local area, contact the Pastor of Outreach at Ext. 132, who coordinates a team of ministers who are authorized to make visits to these facilities through the institution’s chaplaincy office.
